worship

What happened to the toadstool? (see last weeks posts; 10 /18-okt),
Few days ago I saw that the toadstool had fallen forward, with its head down to the ground.

Yesterday I again decided to have a look.
It had rained all day and he was kind of melting and dissolving, merging with the earth.

This night I awoke at about 2 o'clock and it dawned on me that the toadstool had fallen with its head bowing down to the ground as a kind of worship! to God.
I was amazed...

after

After having a bath, the birds sometimes look undone, and having lost composure.
they don't mind at all....

bathing

The birds cannot have enough of taking a bath and I cannot have enough watching them.
They always seem to have such a joy, and they don't care at all how they look.
its always fun.

2 billion spores

The 9th day now of the toadstool, while he is shrinking, shriveling and sending forth its spores.
I found on the web, that this 'Amanita muscaria' brings forth 2.ooo.ooo.ooo !
About 2 billion spores!
I was thinking about that, how to find that out, and I am happy somebody counted it already,
so I don't have to do so many counting, which would take all day...or days...weeks?!!!

fading beauty

The toadstool is giving itself back to the earth
all his beauty is fading.
Sowing his seeds (white spores), spilling his cup over...
beauty and fading away,
eight days of shining..... going to 257 days of darking.

Of course everyone is knowing this,
but somehow I don't seem to know.

seven days

This is the 7th day now... and I like following the process of growth.
both dishes now or a dish and a cup.

six days

Its now been six days ago that I found this toadstool in my garden. the plate has now been filled. And I was curious what would happen to the hood of the small one, being too close to the big one. As you see often in nature...the 'problem' solves itself. the hood now perfectly as table is set.

growing fast

The baby toadstool is growing really fast now.

todays dish

The toadstool has become a dish... not only a table, but now a dish to dine from, slices of cake and cream...the baby half under mothers skirt and protection.

update toadstool

Third day and 4day of the red beauty.
The two upper photos are the third day that I found them and you can see how he has grown bigger, and how the small one got a blush.
This morning I found the big one set as a table ready for dinner. Two segments are cut from the cake. I wonder who would have had a piece from this cake?

7.15 o'clock

At 7.15 I heard a robin softly singing
At 7.24 a blackbird tickering and screaming, claiming his domain.
The robin gently continued to sing not yet finished
with moments of silence in between
7.41 I suddenly woke up confused and noticed I must have fallen asleep again,
while waiting for the next line
It was silent now, song had finished without me hearing.

7.47 I heard him again closer now, a little louder
adding a few notes as a finishing touch.

a little higher

Could not wait this morning to have a look again at the red toadstool
It is growing a little higher. and I really like the small baby at the foot.
I don't know what it is, but seeing this red-spotted toadstool always gets me exited, same thing with ladybugs and robins....

Surprise!

Surprise, surprise...!

What I saw under one of my trees!
Yes I had them last year too, but not every year...and I was hoping that they would come again, this year and they did!... A very beautiful one, with lots of white warts, perfectly dotted like whipped cream over a cake.
and a little baby at the foot with an oakleaf as a doormat...perfect...what an amazing specimen this one is!
And still in the round shape... Tomorrow maybe a little table...
to be continued tomorrow.

squirrel's nut

This morning while having a walk outside, I heard the sound of scratching, kind of funny sound, 'high-pitch-rasp-scrub-scratching-sound'.
I immediately recognized the sound...
If you have squirrels around then you know... Cause its the scratching of his teeth against a nut, in order to open it, for his breakfast.
I didn't see him, but when I hear this, there is a smile in my heart.

Walking back to my house, I found one of his treasures in the grass, which he had lost on his treasure-hunt.
I'll put it up in the birdshouse...The storageplace for the lost-and-found for squirrels.

ugly ducklings

I never knew that the racingbirds were also called carrierpigeons,(as Kora told me).
I like that name much more, carrying a message or a package or some thing.
Years ago I was visiting another neighbor. He was a pigeonflyer and I was allowed to have a peek inside his pidgeonry.
He was breeding them also...and he told me about molting and even gave me a pidgeonring.

I painted 2 of his budding messengers...sitting in a plant dish and some straw.
They were about 6 or 7 days old, indescribable ugly and in their ugliness they were beautiful at the same time. They didn't look like the full-grown beauty-doves at all... more like ugly ducklings, or better say ugly dovelings.

Same thing with the seeds. Shape like a dot, hardly to see almost nothing.
But when planted and after long waiting...and long waiting, there is this beauty of a flower or even a tree.
And it does not look at all anymore like the small beginning of a seed.
Many things are like that, seemingly nothing, ugly, not useful,neglect-things, unworthy nothingness-things. Not recognising its seedform phase.
And grown-up over a long period of time...there is suddenly...
depends on what you planted...beauty & surprise!

desire and longing

I ran many times to my mailbox yesterday, and many times to my emailbox, looked even so more many times to the sky, to the flying racingpigeons, doing their zero's and eights.

I expected a racing-dove coming down, knocking on my door, with a supposed letter like this in his beak. A golden letter with iwings written on it, and sealed with a real stamp from the heavenly royal mail...
But it didn't......

Would the racingpigeon have lost track?
forgot my address?
Stuck in a snowstorm?
or maybe fired?

I was kind of sad it did not come yet.
Maybe he comes tomorrow...Or the day after tomorrow..manyana

I miss the tangible real letters, with real stamps and handwritten addresses, of which you immediately knew where it came from.
I miss the smell of paper and ink, the arabicgum glue...
The envelopes, with AIRMAIL written or it, meaning coming from overseas.
I would dearly love even more to get a letter from heaven, with my name in calligraphic handwriting on it and a handwritten message inside, about what they wanted me to do and also why and when...
Not only to have blind faith...As if the feathers, the birds and bees are not telling me everyday.
I still would love to get a thing like this, really visible, tangible...
touchable..Convincing...

Royal Mail

The doves who are flying their zeros and eights everyday are racingpigeons!
In Holland we call them 'mail-doves',(postduiven) and I really like that name much better... delivering our mail everyday... That's before we got snailmail and email.
My friend Kora, who lives in my street, also was puzzled about their going nowhere..making their circles around every day. She did a googlesearch and found out the doves must be definitely bringing our mail.

(see more about these doves in archives 31 aug)

sheer beauty

So much dazzling beauty and fascination in just a seed!
Amazing and I cannot get enough of it.
Only if I have the right eyes to see.
The plant happened to grow there by accident, its just a weed, wanted to root it out many times, but didn't for no reason. Now the plant is fullgrown and having seeds..sun shining on it...

So many times I don't see...busy with lots of things and 'have to do's' and forget about sheer beauty all around me. Its just there ...only I have to slow down, stand still and have a fresh look...
Instead of running rushing here and there, going too fast and mind full of worries and what more.

giant poppyseeds

I recently got from friends these giant poppyseeds. I love poppy's and never had seen them that big. I let the seedcontainers dry for a while on order to let the seeds inside ripen.
Today I could hear the seeds when I shook it a little. So I opened it up to see the seeds.
I made a photo very close... Never knew that those seeds, when magnified have the shape of a honeycomb and looked like little beans.
