 This is so amazing.

I have put some sunflower seeds and oats in the feeding basket for the birds.
The birds are really enjoying it. Today, a woodpecker has discovered the seeds as well...
With his beak full of seeds he flies to and fro to his nest...looks like he has young and lots of woodpecker babies to feed.
I love to see how many seeds he can hold all together in his beak.

Woody has discovered some leftover peanuts in the jar. 

He mostly climbs up the stem of the the Wisteria-tree and then moves to the branches to be able to jump on the peanut jar. Such a beautiful sight.

Woody woodpecker has discovered the fat-ball for the smaller birds. I never saw him do that. I noticed that the birds also really like these ones. These are finished way faster than the other ones i had before.

It so beautiful to have a great view on Woodies red belly. 

I always wonder why Our Heavenly Creator made a bird with a fire red belly part as well as a red dot on the back of the head for the males.

It is quite complicated for a young woodpecker,
to keep your balance when you want getting something out of a slippery jar.

One of the woodpeckers discovered there are some leftovers in the peanutstring.
It is hanging there all wintertime, and it looks as if all peanuts are empty.
But this clever woodpecker is beating them very hard and loud.
He is lucky when finds so now and then a hidden peanut.

This woody has a different approach.
He sits right in front of the jar in a stable position.
Its so funny to see how birds have their own ways of solving problems.

Clumsy woodpecker

This morning while having my morning coffee,
I noticed a woodpecker, I had not seen before.
This one was rather clumsy, he acted so different than the ones I normally see coming in the birdfeeder.
He tumbled around on the branch as an acrobat showing his acts.
It was so very funny to see how he tried to fix his claws on the branch and jar.

 

 

Later he found out, that he could fix his claw as well on the iron feeder and the branch.
From then on, he had learned how to deal with the problem
so he did not show his acrobatic tumbling and turnarounds anymore.
Somehow that was a pity, it was so funny!

Woodpecker crash

This morning I heard a loud thump against the glass window.
I looked and I found Mr. woodpecker laying on the ground.
I thought he would not survive the crash.
I thought it would be better not to pick him up, maybe I would make it worse if he panicked.

He still was breathing a little bit…
But it looked so bad.
I prayed.
I had not much hope, prayed some more...
The bird was completely in a shock. He hardly noticed me coming close.
Some time later I checked on him again.
The sun was coming through and warmed him a bit, which seemed to be good, because the wind was rather cold.
Than some time later I noticed he was a tiny little bit more alive, though still in a shock, he blinked his eyes.
He sat there for a long, long time.
dozing and coming alive a little, little more.
I felt so sorry for the bird.
Than after some more hours he was gone.
Later this afternoon he came along near the peanut butter jar, but he could not fly very well.
He tried to drink some water.
Later I put some food on the ground, for him easier to pick up.
Maybe when he comes back he will find.

Mr.Woodpecker wants the final drop.

Mr woodpecker comes everyday more than once, to have a snack out of the peanut butter jar.
He matches perfectly with the apples!

Woodpecker molting

The young woodpecker visits so now and then the bird feeder.
I noticed that he is molting…the red spot on his head is kind of changing.
Black spots are coming through the red.

 Yesterday the young woodpecker tried the jar from all sides.
He had almost to climb into the jar, to get the last out.

This morning he wondered: 'Where has all the stuff gone?'

Is n't there just a little yummy something left????
