Squirrel back!

 I had not seen squirrel for months!

Whole winter... no squirrels to been seen...
I worried about them, what might have happened.
Are they even alive? As I had heard about they hares dying and having a disease?

To my great relief I saw last week a squirrel sitting in my garden, he had found a long waiting nut for him to get. He finally found it..My jaw dropped open...amazed to see him.
So happy squirrel is back.

 I miss squirrel.

Last time I saw him was about a month ago. while he was cashing some nuts.

I don't know what happened. Normally he is roaming around seeking nuts, but not here anymore now.

Squirrel-time

 

It's squirrel time again. 

Nuts are ripe and squirrel is busy finding them and put them in storage places in my garden.

This year I found a lot of young walnut-trees in my garden, which he had not eaten.

Maybe he wanted them to grow to trees for more nuts later, when this trees are grown-up there are growing more nuts!

This year the walnut tree of my neighbour has a bad year. almost no nuts on the tree.

I still have some last-year nuts which I throw out so now and then, for him to find.

So lovely to see him again.

Drinking water

Squirrels love to drink water. Every time a squirrel runs along, he always stops for a little drink. 

Luckily I have lots of drinking spots for him and the birds to drink from.

He always looks so cute when he is drinking.
 

Happy Squirrel

 Squirrel had a happy morning. I crushed some of the nuts and he found it. 

Instead of cashing the nuts, he found a good spot to eat them.

It seems to be time for planting. At least squirrel thinks so... He is planting nuts in all seasons here.

In all of my pots I find nuts he has stored there.

For some time later when he likes to have a yummy meal.

It's raining and not fun really to be outside.

Squirrel took the risk, to go out anyway. His ears soaked, his neck hair soaked, his tail all wet as well.

He came along and he was happy to find some peanuts, I had thrown out, for him and the birds to find.

So it was all worth, to go out for a while to get his rumbling tummy filled. 

 

Fishing nuts

      

 

I had thrown some nuts into the water of the pond. 

Today squirrel came along and found some nuts in and around the pond. So I knew he would come back for another nut to find.

He saw some nuts floating in the water...and he tried to fish it out. Some he succeeded. However this nut was a bit beyond reach. He tried to reach very far...several times. 

His paws were too short...

Later the nut floated more to the side...so that he could get it easily.

Finding nuts

 Squirrel is hungry, as it has frozen for days. It more difficult now to dig up his nuts in his deepfreeze storage places in the ground. 

I put out some nuts...so he is happy today.

Fishing nuts

 So now and then, I throw some nuts into the water of the pond.

Squirrel knows that and it's kind of playing hide and seek...for him to find the nuts between the autumn leaves.

He is very good at it.

Squirrel discovered the nuts I placed for him on a table. It looks, he is quite surprised and happy with this unexpected treat. I smashed the nuts on purpose, so that he stays on the table for a while to eat them...

So nice to seem him eating...and enjoying his nuts.
