Little Wren

It was already getting darker a bit, when I noticed little Wren on the terrace.
He was picking something and than smashing it.
I needed to know more.
Through my camera lens I saw he had a big something!
A big caterpillar.
For such a small bird quite a big snack!
He smashed the thing like kingfishers do with their fishes.
I never had seen this.
When it was enough smashed he had a big full tummy!

I rarely see them here in my garden.
But this one came and even started preening his long tail.

Sparrows

The set of sparrows are coming almost everyday now.
Reason is, I guess that my neighbours have bought some chickens,
and the sparrows love to pick their share in the chicken-house.
And that makes that they come to my garden for a bath and if there is food to eat here as well.
I love the sparrows.
They are so funny.

Blackbird bathing

Blackbirds really don't care how you look like while bathing.
They look so funny with all the feathers ruffled and out of place.

Wagtail

On my way, there were several wagtails running and sitting on the road.
When I came closer they were running ahead.
I could catch one that was too busy preening, he was not aware of me being close.
He found later a safer place to continue his preening.

Yellow wagtail

On my way, I came along a beautiful field of corn.
A little further I noticed in the cornfield this beautiful yellow bird.
Probably looking for insects.
In one of my books I found out that it is a yellow wagtail.
