Robins building a nest

When I was awake very early, I looked out of my bedroom window.
I almost could not believe my eyes,
When I watched longer it was really true.
A pair of robins is building a nest, right near my window.
Both robins are bringing leaves and mosses into the nestbox.
Such lovely sight!
So happy I can follow the building process !

A couple of years ago (5 years) another pair of robins had young in this nestbox as well,
and I really hoped they would one day come again.

drawing

Drawing for my little 3 year old niece Aurelie.

A week ago she and her mom came along to bring me a yummy cake.
So I thought she might like to have a drawing of the yummy cakes,
eaten by the white rabbits, squirrel and birds...

Blackcap

Last week, about every day, I saw a couple of blackcaps coming to have a bath.
Beautiful birds!
Male with a blackcap, female has a brown cap.
Mostly they come together.
Today I only saw him taking a lovely bath.

Dove bathing

I was hoping the dove would jump into the water again.
However today he just did a bit washing of his head and that seemed to be enough for today.

Female flycatcher has arrived!

Male and female flycathers don't fly together, from Africa to here.
Normally the male comes first and about a week later the female comes.
Male flycatcher is taking over the territory and is searching out a nestbox,
 in that first week
I saw him singing and tweeting very loud and even being quite aggressively
chasing after coal-tits and other birds to make sure he is boss.
Today his behaviour was different.
and suddenly I noticed the female had arrived as well.
(The last photo is the male (darker)
the other ones show the female.)

Arrival Flycather

There he is,
My little friend all the way from Africa!
He made it again and found my garden!
Such a wonder if you think about it.
Great to hear his squeaky sound again.
I saw him quickly inspecting a birdhouse.
However that one is already occupied by the coal-tits.

Luckily there are more options in my garden...

Flycatcherstime

I am wondering if the flycatcher is on his way,
to be honest, two weeks ago I was already thinking where he would be...on his way to here.
Flying above the Sahara maybe.
I don't know how long his trip will take.
9000 kilometers flying...
Would that mean for a small bird a month flying?

I looked for the dates he arrived the other years...
At least that I spotted him here.
I earliest he was here in 2012 of the 2 of April.
I am looking and scanning through my garden If I can spot him.
Not yet today.
Expecting to see him soon.
