washing/preening at the same moment

Is it coincidence that Tommy and the blackbird
both thought it time to do some cleansing
in almost the same position at the same time.

Tell a bird and a cat to do so, both at the same time...just for fun for a photo...

you will get a puzzled look...thinking you're completely nuts.

father blackbird

This morning I saw father blackbird taking his turn
to keep the baby's warm and protected.

I like it to see father and motherbird taking care of the kids.
I hear them even talk (making thjuk-jtuck-thjuck sounds)
to their little ones...so tender!

Some ladybirds are real acrobats....
balancing over the thinnest leaves of the foeniculim (venkel)

blosseming grass

Last months, I am somehow drawn to blosseming grasses.
everywhere to see...so normal...so...kind of nothing...

Yet there is so much diversity in species ...
even so many colors of purples, blue-ishgreens, yellowgreens reds & greys and yellows
and its always moving...always...even when there are seemingly no winds..
they..are always moving by the slightest shiver of draught or wind...

They are making the winds visible.

blackbird nest

A blackbird has made a nest on my lamp, between the vine above the door.
Its a perfect shielded place... always dry covered by the gutter.
I like to see the motherbird fly off and on.
landing perfectly to her nest...
sitting there..always an eye on me when I pass by.

lieve Heers beestje

(see previous posts)
A ladybird, is called in dutch 'Lovely animal of the Lord',(LieveHeersbeestje)
Although he is now damaged and cannot fly anymore, he is still a Lovely animal of the Lord.

I pondered this week about this...what happened with the ladybird,
as a methaphor being amplified on my screen.

I feel kind of that, after I have fallen, now 4 months ago.
I bruised my back severely and my backbone is damaged in a way I don't like.
I cannot walk anymore as I could before,
and flying through life seems impossible.
Yet I learn through this brokenness, going through this fire
that The lord loves me and that my friends around me love me.
His Love is there, when you are healthy, happy and okee,
His love is there, when your life falls apart, is being broken and bruised,
that is hard to believe...when things go fine in life...you can believe that way easier...
when things go bad...you think...He is against you...,
does not care or love you ...leaving you all alone.

I am still His lovely one
and so are you!

change colors

This morning I saw how he changed colors.
I still feel sorry for his wings.
so it is not a 7 dotted ladybug ( Coccinella septempunctata) but a
Asian lady beetle, or Harmonia axyridis or veelkleurig aziatisch lieveheersbeestje.
there are so many species of ladybugs...

you can find many on this link all about ladybirds, www.stippen.nl

trouble

After the ladybug came out I wanted to make some more photo's
from different angles...
and then something very disastrous happened..........auch!

He fell....tumbling down with paper and all...

probably I hit the lens on the paper, because of very short distance with the extension tube,
(I dropped my macrolens recently....in repair now, so I have to help myself out with this extension tube.....grrrr).
So the ladybug fell....as his wings were very soft,in the beginning)...he got a bump in on of his wings...
I felt so sorry!
Now for the ladybug I produced a great disaster....which is..
he cannot fly...
I really had a hard time ...because when you follow an animal for several weeks ...
you gone start loving them...
I don't like the suffering part in this broken world very much...(wheather it is people or little tiny creatures...its all the same to me in essence.)

birth of ladybird

After the ladybird cocoon..made himself a pillar again.(see last post)
I didn't take my eye away from him....
and yes!
very shortly after, he came out !
he struggled a bit to come out...and there he is... in bright yellows...

which turns on red colors later...
I never saw this before my eyes...
this transformation process.
He made wings and legs in exactly one week

ladybug cocoon

as I kept an eye on the ladybugcocoon...
I suddenly saw it move up and down.

ladybird cocoon

The next day the cocoon of the ladybird changed colors,
he has become orange with dots all over.
the old skin lying as a little cushion underneath.

In this period of transformation he is going to devellop his wings.
getting new legs....the old are gone...

I found out, this transformation.takes about a week.
so I keep an eye on him!!!!!

a wonderful process of transformation

A wonderful transformation from larva of the ladybird into cocoon.
I have never seen this before, to me it was a secret,
that almost every day someplace happens,
yet so hidden and in the secret place,
and now revealed to my eyes!
enjoy!
