black-cap

today I saw and heard the female black-cap...(see post of 23 and 24 april)
she has not a black cap, but a brown one!

mouse

Is it that Bibi the cat has too many mouse-toys, and does not know the difference,
or is it the killer-instinct....??????????

yesterday Bibi came home with a real mouse... dead..but still warm.
pffft I had no mouse on his menu for that day, so I took it away.
This morning however..more worse, I heard a screaming sound...which I never had heard before.. looked..and there she was.. running towards me.
Bibi with a young-small-screaming-squirrel between his teeth.

Immediately I grabbed her in the neck, by which she was the one, who screamed and yelled
and so doing, openend her mouth wide open, so the squirrel, still alive, was able to run away.
I saw the squirell quickly hide himself under some ivy and saw that it could still run..
pffft.... I had no squirrel on his menu either... !

What can I do to kill the killer-instinct?

blackbird and blue-tit

This morning while I inspected the bird house, looking if someone is at home,
I suddenly saw a blue-tit flying out of the hole of the birdhouse.!
surprise!

and........... the blackbird was at home, sitting on the nest...
probably has an egg...
in the process of having more.

so the next couple of weeks the blue-tit and the blackbird share appartments!
a real birdflat!

bird-flat

Overnight a bird has made a nest on the nestbox, under the eaves-gutter.
But while I watch the nest now for a day, to see whose nest it is, nobody is in.
or carefully hidden... ?
It looks like a blackbird nest..
but also a grey-flycatcher used to make a nest there previous years.
So its a surprise to see who lives there.

golden sword

recently made a new painting, yet hesitated to put on the blog.
Thought many who read this might not understand..
but on the other hand you might, if I explain.
The fish eagle has a gold sword. The sword represents the word of God.

Hebr.4:12The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword.
it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints an marrow: it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The sword is gold, that means it is purified, in the fire.
It is love purified, with no attachments of condemnation, anger or other things.
It is true!, but you have to find out for yourself, so as I do myself.

orange tip

today the orangetip is flying to and fro. sits every year here when the 'cuckoo flower' is blosseming.
One month ago I mentioned that I thought I saw him then, but possibly it was my wish... to see him then already...anyway... wish-thing is now here!

rectification

the bird I mentioned yesterday, is neither one of them, I thought it would be.
The bird is a blackcap
Anyway its still a lovely bird... I hope he didn't hear I called him names ;-)

willow-tit or marsh-tit=blackcap

Here is another regular guest in my birdbath.
It is the willow-tit or the marsh-tit.
its difficult to determine cause they both look the same.
Only the songs they sing are different from one another.
a very rapid quick birdy, with a beautiful black hat.

egg shell

yes! the blackbirds have young!
The nest is too high for me to have a peek, I would love to.
I saw mom&dad constantly flying up&down to& fro the nest.

I found some remains of the eggshell, which has been removed by one of the parents out of the nest as soon as the young hatch.
even the trash is beautiful

unfolding spears

The 'spear'-like buds of the beechtree are slowly, or shall I say, rapidly unfolding.
Now as it is getting warmer, suddenly the beechbow in my garden is transforming into sap-greens.
Its always a delight to see the leaves unfolding like a fan, only opening, if you try it to fold them back, which I sometimes try, they don't not want to.

fly-catcher 2

I managed to get a picture from the flycatcher.

Mostly when you want to make a photo of a bird, they won't let you..and if you let go,
then suddenly they pose and then you don't have your cam ready.

I noticed that the female must have arrived too..and that they fly around some birdhouses..
looking which one is available, free, and suitable for the babyflycatchers.
This nestbox, is the same one they are always breeding.
under the oak-tree..and beech-tree, for lots of shade.
I hope so that one of the houses... gets their approval!

fly-catcher

Today I saw the pied flycatcher back again in my garden.
(Ficedula hypoleuca)
Maybe I saw him a few days ago also..but was not sure..but now definitely he is here again.!
Every spring he comes flying all the way from Africa, where he spends wintertime.
In europe there are in winter too less flies to catch, which is his dayly meal.
But end of april he has mostly arrived..back in my garden! and his mate comes one week later.
(Why they don't come together is a puzzle to me.) anyway..
he is inspecting the territory now...and looking for a birdhouse to nest.
When he has found one...(mostly the same house as the year before),she comes and has an inspection too...

she is a little bit browner, he is darker going to black.
I love these birds..coming all the way from Africa..on their own private jet-wings.
And I love the way they catch all the flies in my garden!
& the way the fly like real acrobats!
great bird!

honor&praise

In my garden I saw today the bird's-eye speedwell or in latin (veronica chamaedrys). blosseming. See more info about this plant
A very small tiny blue-lilac flower
In dutch the name is 'ereprijs', which means free translated 'honor&praise'.
Years ago I digged the plant out, in the city called 'Leiden'/lijden
which means translated 'to suffer',or to lead.
I planted it in my grass.

Every year it blossems and it reminds me of: honor & praise out of suffering.
That's kind of easterstory...but then free translated.
suffering transformed into resurrection-life!

moving house

The nuthatch has approved the birdhouse... after lots of inspections.
& after much knocking , hammering on the entrance, to see if it really fits...
Today I saw he has started moving his furniture into the house.

stingingnettle-moth

Nearly stepped on this beauty, sitting on the floor, almost killed it.

But it flew just in time to the windowframe. to show me all of his spots.
Its a moth that lives on stingingnettles as one of my books tells me.
listens to the name:Eurrhypara hortulata.
or a stingingnettle-moth.
I managed to catch him in a glass, to let it fly outside.
Hopefully for him the stingingnettles are above the ground already.

iwings domainname

As the landrush for eu.domainnames was opened last week on april 7th.
I was one of the first to claim my eu-domain for my website i2c.
It was mentioned that one million people in Holland claimed names..
so what numbers for all the world will register?

Unfortunately there was a miscommunication.
and the result of that (in short) was that my claim was overtaken by another company.
Rather disappointed I was when I discovered the situation.
So now I claimed iwings.eu as my domain.
so my website changed name , but not content.
its going to be: www.iwings.eu
instead of the long URL that noone can remember.
Hope tonight the redirection will be done on the server as I was promised.

samoyed-pups

Yesterday I went to have a look at the newborn pups of Aurora.

Aurora is a samoyed-dog of my friend Kora.
There are 6 babypups, 5 days old (born 31 of march) and a sheer delight to watch.
they smell like young dogs..the fragrance of baby-dogs is ...ehhh great!
Then the sounds !...and the movements they make while dreaming/sleeping!

Because the doggies are all white fluffs..they have nice colored strings...to get to know who is who and which is which!
visit her website if you want to have a closer look..
www.koraal.com & log in on her photoalbum.
Its really worth the visit.

inspection time

'My' nuthatch is having inspection time...its 'my', because he has his nest almost every year in the same house..
He rents the house so to speak every year. And the deal is that he allows me to film or make photgraphs of his breed.
That's a good deal, and we both are delighted with the fun.

He sings and tweets to his mate and she is singing back to him..
pieuw-pieuw pieeeuw!
but don't ask me who is he or who is her...

sleepy beetle

while doing some gardening, weeding, I discovered a little small tiny ladybird-beetle, sleeping on a leaf, under the leaves.

I took it along to make a portrait of him,
and slowly being alerted by my disturbance, it awoke, and tried to escape.

preference

It is a strange thing, that cats better like the paintwater, for cleaning my paintbrushes, the flowerwater, or like here, the water of the pond.
Instead of the clear water which always is next to his foodtray.
I cannot follow that kind of a preference... and Bibi does not explain this to me.

by the way, she also stole today the cheese again... in an unguarded moment.
