Young robin

Recently I had several young robins in my garden. 
In the beginning the birds are brown,with speckled lighter dots all over.

So cute!
When they grow, slightly the red feathers are coming through. 
This one here, you can see the beginnings of the red breast feathers...so adorable!

 

Snow and robin

It has been snowing some more, last night. 
Everything is under a white coat. 
I gave the birds some extra food.
Robin is very happy with that.

 My garden has lots of flying young coal-tits, blue-tits and even a young robin or more.

It's not so easy to have a good photo, because they are constantly on the move. 
Here I captured a young robin who is begging for food. The parents are very busy to get their beaks full.

Robin singing

Suddenly I hear a soft silvery singing outside. I look up from doing what I am doing.

Its robin singing on the bronze bird. singing his spring-song.

Robin perched on my bronze bird. 

He has a great view looking over my garden.

It has been quite cold...around zero up and down.
The birds really love to have some extra food.
Robin is very much enjoying his meal.

It has been freezing again this night.
I'm making sure that the birds have something yummy to eat.
Robin has found the feeding-table. He's all rounded up now to keep warm.

It has been snowing a little bit last night.
A beautiful white carpet was spread out over my garden and every where and elsewhere. 

 The birds had difficulty finding some food from under the white carpet.
I helped them to find it a bit easier by throwing out sun peanuts and sunflower seeds.

You can tell they love it!

It's hard to tell which robin is the adult and which one is the juvenile.

The young one has gotten all his adult-like feathers now. I don't see the difference anymore.

This one looks like the adult one. However I'm not sure. They chase away each other now, to defend territory and who's boss over it.

Young robins feathers

Ten days later, and now robins orange/red fiery feathers are breaking out much more!

Its amazing how quick that is changing!

He is so cute and beautiful!

Here is the lovely cute young robin, getting his red fiery feathers out on his breast.

His head is still in the baby-feathers-look, speckled all over his head and neck. That will change soon so that he has red feathers as well around his head.

While I am sitting outside, enjoying the lovely weather with my cup of coffee. Meanwhile the birds are having their bath and yummy crushed sunflower seeds. I suddenly noticed a very small feather sitting between the leaves of a plant.

When I looked closer...I saw the feather was a little reddish at the top and side.

Picked it up as a treasure. It's almost certain that this feather belongs to robin. (We have here in the Netherlands the Eurasian robin, which is a different specie than the much bigger American robin. Though they carry the same name, it's a different bird.)

Everyday there is coming a very young robin at the feeding table. He is molting his little feathers into more adult-like feathers. The  orange-red feathers are coming out now and he gets more fiery everyday.!

I keep an eye on him because he is so very cute in his half baby-feathers and half maturing feathers.

It think the feather belongs to him, though it is also possible that the feather belongs to the parent, who is coming as well at the feeding table and bird bath.

 There are two robins in my garden. Its difficult to say which one is the female or the male. They are lookalikes. One of them is joying the early sunrays.

 Its looks like Robin has a second nest somewhere, someplace.

He has yummy food in his beak for the young.
