zero's and eights

Everyday a group of 10 to 12 doves are flying zero's and eights in the air. Mornings and afternoons they take their flight, weather or no weather is not important.
It looks so no sense, what they are doing, flying around in circles. To me it looks useless what for? going in circles and nowhere going.
But to them its joy, exhilarating life and endless energy...
Many times what I think is important in life, is not important at all.
And seemingly useless things are maybe much more important...

This morning while arranging some pots and plants, near my pont, suddenly a big frog sat quietly looking... not moving, like frozen. It sat still all the time and even when making a photo did not disturb him at all. After I finished the photosession, he leapt into the water. it was as if he wanted his pic on the web, so I did. then while going on with my arrangements and wanting to replace a plant in another pot, I found his child in the flowerpot. So both are now in the pont and on the wwweb.

Look and see

Look and see!......... Look and see!!
We've got wings!......... We've got wings!!!
The butterflies shouted and sang....
Now we can fly!....... Now we can fly!!
Now we can measure the air!!!!!!!!!!!

(see beginning of caterpillar-story on 10 aug.)

As the sun shone brighter, and the caterpillars knew that all was well, if a door closes, somewhere, sometime, someplace God will open up a window.
Suddenly they discovered it looked as if little windows had formed in their prison-cocoons.
and that the windows of the cocoons had become like little wings...

Yesterday I saw some beautiful butterflies on my buddleja. It was not easy to capture them, because they never sit still. Now today, while raining nowhere a butterfly to find...
This one is the 'Comma butterfly', named after the white comma on the closed wing.(clearly seen the third foto). in Latin called 'polygonia c-album' and in Dutch;' gehakkelde aurelia', named after the seemingly cut wings I guess.

(continuing caterpillar-story,) see beginning at 10 Aug.

The sun stretched out its wings, (yea the sun has wings)
and smiled and warmed the little caterpillars, while they were listening to silence.
Silence did n't speak a word and yet the caterpillars knew what was spoken.
It was like deep knowing within.... All would be well....

Listening to silence

The caterpillars were listening and listening to the sound of silence,
while they were enclosed in their little prison.

It took a long time just listening to silence........

Monday, August 22, 2005

Then the sound of silence and a pile of broken dreams..............

Sunday, August 21, 2005

The clouds became darker and bigger, broke loose into T-showers.
A big pile of caterpillars (which had now turned into cocoons) was the result.
No more thinking no more measuring and finding solutions.

No more spinning ................only the sound of rain.

More spinning thoughts

The caterpillars were trapped in their own spinning thoughts......
Even the clouds did not look friendly anymore.

spinning around

(continuing story),
see beginning of the caterpillar-story 10 aug

The caterpillars had become so tired and stiff, so they had to stop and started to think.
Think deeply and more deep.
It became a very long deep thought.
spinning around that thought took quite a while,
spinning and thinking. It looked a little bit like this.......lots of spinning thoughts and getting stuck.

time for a break and refreshment

9685 centimeters

Ninethousand 6 hundred and eighty-five centimeters. This far the geometer caterpillars had measured the air. But now they were getting very exhausted by climbing the air that way, and measuring and holding each other up and standing so long as a kind of pillar. Now it looked more like a kind of stairs....They got tired and stiff, stiff necks , stiff legs, stiff very stiff...

Going up

Climbing and going up..measuring some more air, higher and higher.. going up, more friends and support, all the way up.....

with a little help from friends

Measuring air is a little complicated, when you want more than 5 centimeters.
So with a little help from some friends and relations, the caterpillars are slowly moving up.

Measuring the air

Now the caterpillars decided to measure some fresh air, so they to made themselves like temporary pillars.
After having tracked along their path for a quite a while. It is a good moment for me to enter through their gate and have a look into the air too, seeing what they see, facing up

Archies friend

This morning I met one of Archies (Worldchampion of snailracing, see yesterdays post)) friends, called Leopold. He was having his breakfast, and didn't want to be disturbed. So I took his picture..which he didn't like, because he said he was not dressed yet, anyway. He was having a lilac sappy flowersalad.

Friday, August 12, 2005

As I am so meandering my thoughts and following its tracks, It reminds me of a little article I found a few months ago in a KLM brochure on my way to Italy.
I immediately was stunned by the humor and sense, or maybe nonsense.
I ripped the article out of the magazine out of sheer amazement, fun and no reason.
About Archie, speedwinner of the Snailrace Championship of the World.

2 geometers

The geometer caterpillars keep wondering me, so I journey a little alongside their tracks.
And as they are not knowing where they are going, so I don't know where I am going while making this blog. Everyday its kind of adventure where it leads me and where its going. Don't want to make myself bothering too much, and just want to see where everyday leads me.

Caterpillar of the geometer

I kept thinking about the caterpillar of the geometer, walking/moving like as if he is measuring land. (see yesterdays post).
What a brave courageous little creature, measuring all the earth.

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

Found this morning a kind of nightmoth on my glass door. Sitting there for hours and hours, no hurry at all, taking its time...maybe taking a nap on my door. I like the way animals do their thing, they take their time, no hurry, no stress...just be.
Tried to find the name and specie, as I am not sure because there are thousands and more all alike. geometridae .. geometers.... measuring the land...The caterpillar is named after the way it walks as if it is measuring the land with its legs. Interesting.

enjoy the moment

This morning while making my coffee, a golden crested wren came along, to take a bath in my birdbath. Its such a beautiful bird, very small and it has a bright yellowgolden crown on its head. Its always such a beautiful sight, when birds make their arrangements for the day. They enjoy and me too.

spider ink

Years ago I bought 7 bottles of spider ink, I called it that way, because of the huge spider drawn on the bottle. Many bottles are empty now, but I still keep the boxes, and the remains of the bottles. I love the ink & as amatter of fact I love pigments, inks, pencils and all kind of drawing-and paintmaterials. They are kind of treasures to me. At that time I was not intending doing anything on the worldwideweb, but this morning it dawned on me how nice it is to use this special spiderink for my webdrawings.

Any idea what that is all about?
One can dream such strange things and makes you wonder and think.
The snow looked like very small white little marshmellows.

on air

so first tryout on this new chariot, to get it on air.
it seemed to be a bit too heavy at first start, then the wings were not good attached,
but now having made the load a bit lighter, & screwed a bit on the wings, it might be able to fly its first flight.

so here off we go..
count ten down to zero........

okee there we go then. take a deep breath.
