Robins nest damaged

Its so sad to share that the robins nest has been damaged by....I think a cat.
The nest and the eggs were lying upside down in the nestbox.
For seversal weeks I had not seen the robins around the nest.
But because of breeding you don't see them a lot, so I hoped they were breeding.
But after so many days not noticing any robin near the nest, I feared the worst.
I let it rest for many more days, because I was not sure.
But yesterday I checked it, and saw that the nest was upside down with 4 eggs in the nest...
Because the nest was pulled upside down in the box, the birds could not return for breeding.
A neighbor cat must have destroyed it.
So sad to see.

I think/hope the robins have made another nest someplace else.

Nuthatch feeding

This is so sweet!
The nuthatch is feeding his mate.
While she is busy breeding the eggs, the male takes care of the cooking.

Fluff-nest

A few days ago, I brushed the Fluffy, because his hair is sitting loose.
I thought it might be nice to see if the blue-tits  will like the fluffhair for their nest.
So I put it out in a tree.
Only a few minutes later...
there was the first blue-tit.
Immediately he started pulling the hair from the branches..storing it into the nestbox.
How simple can life be

Fly-catchers

Yesterday I noticed 2 flycatchers around the birdhouse!
She Has arrived too!
Yes!!!! so great, because last year the male was calling for her (at least a month)
and she did not arrive.
That was so sad to see.
Now the couple is planning to make a home in a new birdhouse I recently put up.
In the top-photo, she is peaking out.

willow-tit

hidden in the jar
There is a couple of Willow-tits or Marsch-tits in my garden.
I can't see the difference.
They are always together when I see them.
Going for the seed-jar and also for a bath.
They are look-alikes., both the same, so it is hard to tell who is who and which is which.
I always name them my 'Jewish birdies'.
and when I see them, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

pigeons drinking and bathing

At the end of the afternoon, two pigeons were sitting together at the birdpond.
Its too deep for bathing, but anyway the pigeons enjoy drinking from it and sometimes they try to bathe as well.
Its so nice to see how these two pigeons are synchronising each other.
every movement mirroring together.

Fly catcher is back

Fly catcher is back again!
All the way from Africa!!
I was just thinking this morning, that the flycatcher is late,
or maybe worse that he might not come this year.
Last year only the male arrived and not the female..so that meant no nesting.

Today the male is inspecting a new nestbox I have put up near the old nestbox.
He seems very interested.
last year he was a bit earlier,
But it can also be that he was already here, and that I did not noticed yet.
The time he arrived previous years you can see here.
Its interesting how they know exactly the times and the seasons.

Robin singing

I don't know if the robins are making progress in the nest.
The last ten days I did not see them arround the nest so much, so I doubt a bit if they are continuing.
One day I noticed them again, trying to defend the area. chasing away other birds.
So that seems hopeful to me.

I am also very careful, not to disturb them by looking close, knowing that they will not like so much attention.
Yesterday one of the parents was singing his springsong.
I hear them actually all the time through the day,
listening to their silvery special sound.

Finch

A finch is attacking the window in my garage.
Its so sad to see how he spends all his energy and strength on this mistake.
How do I tell him?

dozing pigeon

For hours, this afternoon, sat this pigeon in the birdbath.
Warming himself in the warm sunrays....dozing away, while staying cool in the water.
Later when the sun was hiding behind some trees, he still sat there.
dozing away, relaxing and meanwhile keeping an eye on his surroundings.
I never saw a pigeon staying so long in the birdbath and staying so nearby.

Blue-tits

The blue-tits finally decided where to build their home.
They could not decide which house was the best.
so they flew from the brown one to the green one and back and forth.
Many mosses were chosen and picked for the interior.
Later they flew in pieces of straw and grasses.
Its great fun to watch them being so busy after the great decision.
