Te voet post

Recently I made another stamp for my brother in law.
During new-year he had made his best wishes cards and drawn a stamp on the enveloppe.

And then delivered the mail himself, without delivering it  through the regular snailmail-deliveryservice.

He wrote on the stamp, Te voet post, Mail by foot.

I found that very funny, so I made for him some stamps with his drawing on it.

Stamp

When you have followed my blog for quite some time, you might know that I love stamps.

Recently I had some stamps made for my sister as a birthday present.

I asked her to let me know what should be the theme and subject for the stamp. She came up with this. In the area were my parents and their grandparents family were born, there is growing a very rare flower. not in other places in our country, as far as I know.

When I was a child these flowers were already very rare, and at that time we were told not to pick them because they are protected. So now many decades later, they are very, very rare. I have very lovely memories of that time.

Its the wilde kivietsbloem ( (Fritillaria meleagris) (Checkered Lilyflower.)

They are beautiful lovely flowers in white and purple-ish colors. only growing in wet meadow lands.
I asked her to sent me a stamp in the mail.
So here it is!

Stamp

Friends from the other side of the ocean, have send me a beautiful x-mas card and along with that came a beautiful round stamp!..

As all the nice stamps are disappearing, I am refusing to use the unfriendly, ugly online ink-stamps, they promote nowadays. Where has gone the fun and joy and beauty...! so I have made my own.

I want the beautiful printed real stamps...!

Stamps

Today my sister brought the new years card herself, instead of delivering it by the postman.
My brother-in-law had drawn a beautiful stamp on the envelloppe, which made me smile.

Stamps

Last year I have made my own stamps.

In the Netherlands you can have them made by the post-office and you can use them (instead of the ones they have) on your snail-mail.

I love stamps and I still don't like that we lost our snail-mail-stamps. Some stamps are so beautiful like small real art pieces.

Drawn by Janosch a well known German illustrator.

They are so cute and I love these drawings.

instead of a stamp

This week I received an official letter from the town hall
The letter has no normal stamp anymore…
This one above is what it is today.

Instead of stamps, the mail is delivered with a kind of printed stamp.
A cheapish poor looking printed stamp, in a bad design.

Not like some years ago, when you received a snailmail letter with at least a glued
stamp with the head of the queen and this last year the head of the king, making a letter a real letter.
I would expect from an official letter more.
I now looks like a printed matter, you would throw away easily when you don't look thrice.
Somehow this is a severe degradation in the mail.

You say…of course email, whatsapp, twitter and other social media….I know, I know…
We are going to find it normal these days…don't even notice anymore…unimportant...

I think its an impoverishment of our country.

I want (glued)stamps !!!!!!!!!!!!

State stamps of USA

Today I received a delightful letter from Barbara Rudolph in my mailbox.
We connected because we both have a passion for birds.
I received from her a beautiful set of American State birds stamps.
Amazing birds, each one representing one of the States of the USA.
Thank you so much Barbara!

Have a look at her website and blog.
Barbara makes beautiful bird paintings in oil paint.
(see photos below and who she is.).
I am an artist that enjoys telling a story with my paintings. They are unique, thought provoking and often have a sense of humor to them. My most recent work has focused primarily on intimate portraits of birds, often in a peculiar and fun situation. I have devoted a lot of time to photographing birds which I later incorporate into my still-life arrangements of books and other objects with the birds. I enjoy the challenges of painting in a realistic style. I try to capture a moment in time with my sky paintings with a single bird or birds in flight. I am an Arizona artist that has been interested in drawing and painting since an early age. I have created many works for clients in a variety of styles, from floral to classical figurative paintings. My medium of choice is oil paint. Art is such an important part of my life. I love to spend time in the studio creating paintings that will bring joy into people's lives.

On her blog you can see she started with beautiful oilsketches of 70 different birds.

and a video of her work.

Snailmail

Today I received 2 snail mails, with these lovely stamps.
One from Berlin (Germany) and one special made stamp.
stamped with Nieuwegein…which means translated New Fun.
In Holland you can order your own stamps with your own selected picture on it.

I don't know if that is possible in other countries, but here in Holland, it is a real treat that we are able to do so.
I always enjoy beautiful stamps on a letter!
