Blue tits update

My friend K. asked in the last posts comment how the blue tits are doing.
Are they Out?

No not yet, though I think it won't be long.
There is a lot of chirping coming out of the box.
The parents are flying (I don't know how many times), too and fro.
Carrying caterpillars, caterpillars and caterpillars .....

So many caterpillars are brought inside the box, into the beaks of the young birds.
I don't know where they find so many and so quick!
They are experts in finding them.

I keep an eye on them..hoping to see the young birds coming out soon.

Flycatchers out

The flycatchers are out!
Yesterday there was a loud tweeting and chirping in the box.
For the first time I saw one of the babybirds peeking out...into his new wide world.
Thats a sign that one of the coming days...there is a flying out.
(I am happy I took some photos of the babybirds peeking out yesterday.)
This morning when I looked again:
There was no tweeting and no more chirping coming from the bird box.
There was even no sign from the baby birds, nor the parents in the garden.
All gone!

Reds are out

Suddenly the reds are out...

While I was reading a good book...and looked up...I noticed how fast the poppy is coming out.
Every photo taken about one hour after the other.

its fun to have these bright reds back again.

Burnt tail

As so many times, either Fluffy or Bibi are sitting on a small stairs, in my kitchen.
The stairs wander a litlle so now and then through my kitchen.
I use it as a stool...to sit on when I think sitting is easier for my back, to do the cooking.
One day it is near the sink, the other day near the gas cooker, or near the cupboard.
Today it was near the gas cooker.
I already shove it a little away from the gas.
Fearing that one of the cats sitting on it coming too close near the flames
and my pots and pans...while they are curiously inspecting what I am cooking.

So was today.
Fluffy on the stairs...watching curiously.
Then he stood up turned around...and wiped his tail too close near the gas.
I just was quick enough...to catch his tail away from the flames.
Yet I smelled a little burning.

Later I inspected his tail....
I could easily wipe off the scorched hair.
Later he brushed it clean himself.

A young Song Thrush having a good bath...

I love these Song Thrush birds...
trying to wash their speckles and spots.

Song Thrush

Mother Song Thrush

Young Song Thrush, flying away...

A little further in the garden was a mother Song Thrush, busy collecting food.
When I walked a little more, suddenly I noticed a young Song Thrush...flying away when he noticed me.
I was lucky that a few meters away sat another young Song Thrush, not flying away.
I could even come rather close...and he showed himself from all sides...
What a beautiful speckled bird!

Bunnies

Today I went to the garden, where my parents lived.
As soon as I entered the gate there was a bunny sitting.
Not afraid at all, I could approach rather close.
Very soon I saw more bunnies...young ones...hopping freely around, so now and than nibbling a little something.

One of them even hopped very close...as if he thought he was all by himself.

The parents are collecting their food for the young in my garden.
Its always great to see the variety of yummy lunch for the baby's.

Visitor

Suddenly Bibi had no attention to whatsoever....
He looked up out of the window...wide eyes...staring...
uhhh?

I looked the same direction...
There it was,
a curious intruder on the fence, which had to be followed very carefully and intense, with locked eyes.
The cat of my neighbors had positioned himself on the fence
trying not to fall off...
(Maybe he has noticed the coal tits breeding in the birdhouse)
Moving awkward in an acrobatic way...how to find the way back to where he belongs.

Fly catcher

A glimpse of the flycatcher just before getting dark.
He came very close near the house, sitting on the table for a moment.
Long enough to catch him....my flycatcher.
