First butterfly

Last year I had found some caterpillars...I wanted to see them cocooning.

So I had taken some of them into my kitchen to keep an eye on them...
waiting till they had become cocoons and then put them outside till next year to watch them transforming into butterflies.
Unfortunately that next morning one of the caterpillars had disappeared...
Some how he had been able to escape out of the little box,
which I had not closed too tight, for fresh air.
I was not able to find him back.


This morning however there sat a butterfly in my kitchen!
how amazed I am!
Had forgotten all about this 'lost' caterpilar.
and now there he is!
as a butterfly...
First butterfly this year!

Its too cold I guess to let him out...temperatures at night below zero..would not be great for him,
though the sun is breaking through last couple of days.
Does anyone know?
