after bath

After bath this Blue-tit really looks refreshed.
I like the ruffling sounds and movements,
when they try to fix the feathers all together back in place.

bullfinch she&he

It is still tropical temperature outside..and also inside the house.
Only morningtime is fine.
So do think the birds..
In the early morning lots of activity around the birdbath.
And...I was happy to watch some lovely species..I rarely see.
Here female bullfinch (goudvink) (Pyrrhula pyrrhula) is showing up.
She is much paler comparing to the oustanding colors of him, if you compare her to her mate.

I saw her once before at the bath...though she and he also are very, very shy birds.
Now she came back several times...probably because it is so warm!

A few days ago I could capture him in his bright carmine, crimson suit. having a drink and a quick refrehment



For me an exiting chance to watch her and him so closely from my hidingplace.
What an outstanding birds!

I did not see him for a while, sometimes I heard him, but he did not show up,
until today ...extreme warm temperature.
He thought it might be an excelent day for a fresh bath.

Robins always do things very carefully..hip..hop from left to right..
forward...looking..to the left and up!
seeing if its safe...
And then take the final plunge.

Mostly he leaves than for some seconds,
coming back a second time... for me my chance!

Blackcap & 'Browncap'

Another lovely bird, came along in the birdbath for drinking/bathing, with his mate.
He has a blackcap...that's how his name is: Blackcap (Zwartkop) or (Sylvia atricapilla).

She only does not have a blackcap.
She has a brown one, though she still is named Blackcap.
and not Browncap as you would logical think.

Sometimes things are not logical.

youngbird's gathering

Suddenly there was an invasion of young birds,
gathering in the birdbath.
As If they had all said:
Shall we meet at 11.30 at the birdbath?


I counted at least 17 or 18 babybirds at the birdbath.

Most are bluetits though there is also a coal-tit at the party.
Most extremely delightful gathering.
Never saw so many birds together in the birdbath

It looked like a flashmob for birds.

Now the weather is like ongoing summertime...
Bibi and Tommy spend their days having everyday lazytime holidays.

Some blackbirds have their second or third nest.
This blackbird is one of them.
Having some delicious meal in his beak for the young.

Its a pleasure to see all these birds coming long for a drink.
Here a baby coal-tit...in such a fresh-brandnew feater-suit.
and then spoiling it...making it all wet and soaked!

flying red

Few days ago...
I saw something red flying through my garden.
Red and black.
At first I thought it was the redstart bird, which I had seen a while ago.
I hoped I would catch a better glimpse.

Then I saw him again flying..and definitely it was a Bullfinch, (Goudvink),(Pyrrhula pyrrhula)
Though the photo I made was very unsharp...I could determine for sure, it was this delightful bird.
Extremely beautiful red, black head, almost unnatural...especialy here in this continent.
Then sitting in my garden I saw him again drinking at the birdbath.
what a beauty...only no camera at hand. sigh..sigh...!

Yesterday he came again for a drink...camera nearby...so that I could catch his beauy.

I just installed the birdviewtent right on time...
Almost immediately a group of young blue-tits came out of hiding
for a bath .
I was so happy to see these having the time of their life.
splashing in the water...all over.

delightful spot

When I looked out of the window, while I was busy on my computer,

I saw two pigeons sitting in the sunshine on the feedingtable.
As the table is made of iron, it gets lovely warm in the sunshine.
so that made it a delightful spot to sit and rest.
meanwhile picking some of the remains of the crumbs.

The Willow Warbler (Fitus) thinks its good to go down under
when the temperature stays warm.

Its bathing time.
The weather is summery...

So many birds plunge in the birdbath for refreshment, like this blue-tit.
I like the ruffling afterwards.
Sitting on a branch, shaking and ruffling.
cleaning, preening, polishing,
till all the feather-do is back in place.
