Traveling

The traveling birds are on the 'road' again
Flying geese going south, loud quacking on the go to each other.
You always wonder what they are telling each other.

Mole 30

continuing story Mole

When mrs Beetle came closer,
she landed on a nearby reed.
She saw that the baby birds were not alone.
Two big white birds were along with them,
even carrying some of the birds on their back between their wings.
They were swans!
She understood immediately they must be the real parents.

The swans told her, they were breeding the eggs...and were almost finished,
that one night the eggs were stolen!
Just taken away by someone, while they were having a little break,
to get some sandwiches and tea.
when they came back all the eggs were gone.
They had looked everywhere..called them...but nothing, no one answered.

Mrs beetle than told the swans, how they: (Mole, Hedgehog and the Bunnies and herself) had each bought some eggs from a mrs Tjick and that the eggs had hatched right after.
How they all had looked after the chicks in turns...and than one day going to the pond, the chicks all wanted to stay in the water.

It was all clear now...the chicks and the swans knew they belonged to each other!

Afterwards, Mrs Beetle returned happily to Mole Hedgehog and the Bunnies.
Finally all had worked out very well.
The babyswans were HOME

Hair

A spider had made a web line of about 5 meter from one tree to another.
In the web line sat a hair, glistening in the sunrays,
changing shape by every movement of the wind.
Who 's hair would it be?

Mole 29

continuing story Mole

When they all wanted to return home,

Mrs Beetle said:
I know we all cannot swim, but I can fly,
Somehow I want to know...
Shall I have quick look, just to be sure?

So said, so done, they all were curious if they really were okay.
and why the birds were so happy splashing around.

Flying ladybird

On the web, while I tried to find out how ladybirds are flying,

Most interesting..Slow-motion!
I always wondered how these 4 wings were fluttering.
enjoy!

Not quit sharp, yet better than nothing,
little wren, searching for food on the ground.

Mole 28

continuing story Mole

The next day, Bunny returned with Mole, Hedgehog and Mrs Beetle at the waterside,
to see what they could do to help the birds out.
In a long distance they saw the birds swimming and having fun in the water.

It seemed the birds were very happy in the water.
that they belonged in the water to live there.
and that they did not need anything else, nor help.

So they waved them all goodbye.
Happy too, and relieved, that all had worked out unexpectantly good.

Mole 27

continuing story Mole

When it was time to go home,
The birds were still splashing, swimming, and enjoying themselves very much.
Bunny too was enjoying them, seeing they had so much fun.

Now it was time to go home, he told the birds to come along with him to go back.
It seemed as if the birds had no ears,
or...their ears were closed.
Bunny tried to pull them out of the water, but because he could not swim,
he became wet allover.
Till he was soaked...and he finally decided to go back and get some help.

Tuliptree seeds

In the garden of my neighbours grows a tuliptree (tulpenboom).
The tree has very special seeds.
I had never noticed that if you peel the hard shell,
inside there are bright flaming red round seeds like smarties.

Its quite a surprise, you don't expect.
Smarties for the birds.

Wren

This morning, I heard a wren singing, tweeting, tickeing the highest and loudest song.
Of course I was not in time to grab my camera,
because they are one of the quickest of all birds,
and also one of the smallest.

So I decided to grab my pen and camera,
to make a drawing-photo.

Mole 26

continuing story Mole

After a while walking and running,
(For the young birds it was more running...)
Bunny and the young birds had reached the pond.

Bunny could not believe his eyes...
when the birds saw he water,
they immediately jumped into it, splashing and diving under the water
till you all got wet.
They were no chickens, that's for sure...thought Bunny while he watched them sitting in the sand.
What chick likes to swim?
and then these extra long necks...

Mean spiders

Spiders...okay, if they catch flies...and stay outside the house,
I can live with that.
But if they catch beautiful butterflies, and wrap them into a butterfly-wrap
I think that's mean, nasty, ugly...and criminal.

Mole 25

continuing story Mole

After several turns of babysitting the birds,

it was the Bunnies turn again to take care of the birds.
Bunny had a grand idea, for the day, to go for a walk to the pond.
The birds were much faster than before,
and they ran as fast as they could, with Bunny in front of them.

Aconitum

Aconite, (monkshood, wolfsbane, leopard's bane,) (Monnikskap)
is blossoming in my garden.
For a while the garden was like nothing...
no flowers , no colors...only greens.
Now this flower is reviving my garden again.

ladybird

A ladybird had landed on my jacket.
I did not wear the jacket,
I had put it off outside, on a table, because it was too warm.
He (the ladybird) was kind of dozing, taking a nap in the sunshine on my jacket.

When I looked better, he was washing his face, with his tiny legs.
