Rabbit 2

Today he was back! my little rabbit. He again feasted on the flowers in the grass and I could see he really liked them. He even took a papaver bud. Just in front of me...It seemed to me he didn't notice me. He then began washing his nose and ears! and even took a nap for a while.

Never saw a wild rabbit that close and so enjoying himself.

Rabbit

This morning I had a very special guest visiting my garden.

I think he really liked it and me too.

However most people don't want them in the garden, and that's what I understand as well. He was looking for nice yummy things, like clover and other flowers and then he discovered the poppy's and ate a delightful meal of poppy leaves and flower.

When he noticed me, he suddenly ran away...too shy to have me as an observer, when he has his yummy meal.

Ladybird larva

I found a ladybird larva on the glass window.

He has no chance to find aphids there, so I moved him and put him on one of my roses, where mostly aphids are feasting on the fresh buds. So I put him there so that he can have a good meal.

Blackbird with yummy food

The blackbirds have young in the ivy.

Every time when father blackbird goes to the nest to feed the young, he announces his coming  by singing a short song before he goes to the nest. As if he wants to tell the young he's coming again with delightful yummy food. Even with a beak full of crawly things he is able to sing...without dropping a crumb.

I never have seen that, that a blackbird tells his young he is coming...

Young woodpecker

I heard a loud screaming tjtjick tjick...sound up in the trees.

At first I could not scan the bird in the tree, I knew by the sound it had to be a woodpecker.

Then later, suddenly I found him sitting high up in a tree...a young woodpecker calling/screaming for his mom or dad. he clumsily tried to hold on to the branches, which was so funny to see.

Wagtail

A beautiful wagtail having a bath.

Mostly I don't see them very much in my garden, as they are more seen in the meadows and woods.

But this one has found my birdbath and seems to very much like it!

Squirrel is coming along for a quick drink and then quickly running to the next to do thing. He always seems to be in a hurry...running so fast as well, hardly to keep up.

Flycatcher is back!

It was quite misty this morning when I awoke.

I sat with my coffee looking and a bit pondering...meanwhile enjoying the beauty of the mist outside. Than suddenly I noticed the flycatcher!

He' s back all the way from Africa back to my garden. Every year I try to catch his first arrival day.

Actually I was  thinking this week, that he's late. Former years I thought he arrived here earlier. (I checked it and that's not really true...many times he was here around this time...and sometimes even later).

I am happy he arrived today or better said that I noticed him today being back.

Such a beautiful bird tweeting and tjirping all day.

Here is the link of his annual arrival times.

Squirrel in the jar

How to get a squirrel in a jar?

The peanut-butter-jar is almost empty...Squirrel knows how to get in deep, to get the last bits out.

Squirrel

Last week, I crushed lots of peanuts and sunflower seeds and put them together with some peanut butter in a jar.

Now squirrel has discovered the jar. I think he could smell it, because normally he does not climb the apple tree in search for a little something.

Its a rainy day so that his tail is scruffy as wel as his ears, which looks so cute.
