Squirrel

Squirrel is coming along for a quick drink and then quickly running to the next to do thing. He always seems to be in a hurry...running so fast as well, hardly to keep up.

Flycatcher is back!

It was quite misty this morning when I awoke.

I sat with my coffee looking and a bit pondering...meanwhile enjoying the beauty of the mist outside. Than suddenly I noticed the flycatcher!

He' s back all the way from Africa back to my garden. Every year I try to catch his first arrival day.

Actually I was  thinking this week, that he's late. Former years I thought he arrived here earlier. (I checked it and that's not really true...many times he was here around this time...and sometimes even later).

I am happy he arrived today or better said that I noticed him today being back.

Such a beautiful bird tweeting and tjirping all day.

Here is the link of his annual arrival times.

Squirrel in the jar

How to get a squirrel in a jar?

The peanut-butter-jar is almost empty...Squirrel knows how to get in deep, to get the last bits out.

Squirrel

Last week, I crushed lots of peanuts and sunflower seeds and put them together with some peanut butter in a jar.

Now squirrel has discovered the jar. I think he could smell it, because normally he does not climb the apple tree in search for a little something.

Its a rainy day so that his tail is scruffy as wel as his ears, which looks so cute.

woodpigeon dive

So amazing to see!

A very brave wood-pigeon just let himself fall into the deep waters of the pond.He did it more than once, so that I was able to capture it. It was such a fun sight, because you normally don't see birds drop themselves in deep water. He was very much able to cross over to the other side.

Robins nest

A few days ago the robins have begun building a nest in the nestbox. It was so my desire that they would do so.

But of course you cannot tell them to do so, They have a mind of their own and the only thing I could do for them is to have a nest box inviting them.

So it was a great surprise they accepted the invitation. Every morning I see them building on the nest. I keep myself at a distance to not disturb the party.

Green woodpecker

I hear him a lot of times. He is laughing like a horse. so that is easy to recognise.

Seeing him is another story, because he is very very shy.

Last week I was able to spot him, while he climbed an oak tree, hardly visible against the moss.

Squirrel hanging on

The squirrels have discovered the peanuts for the birds. The squirrels love them too!

This morning one of the squirrels was very delighted having his peanut-breakfast. He even hanged upside down on the branch so that he could get the nuts.

Suddenly the small iron tie broke loose from the branch.(I had not tied it very well to the branch, I suppose), but squirrel held on to the peanut-bag and dangled like an acrobat on the branch!

Then suddenly the peanut-bag broke loose from his paws.... so beautiful, I captured that moment, when that happened. It was his stunning looks that made me laugh out loud! It was so funny to see this. He did not mind and continued his breakfast at the foot of the tree between the snowdrops and the crocuses.
