Dunnock

The Dunnock, Hedge sparrow, Prunella modularis, Heggemus, is mostly hiding under shrubs
so now and then I see him coming out of hiding,
to find a little something.
I realy like this little greyish bird...

Greenfinch

Beautiful greenfinches (groenling) coming along.
Didn't see them much this past winter,
Somehow they seem to come out of nowhere,
in their beautiful green suit.

blue-tit

The blue-tits (pimpels) have taken residence in nr 18
Its not the best house, to be honest it needs restoration.

For a quick repair, I have put an iron piece of string around, to keep the door closed.
forgot about it to restore it better later on.
I think when they are out, for a few moments,
I need to do close the door a bit tighter.

finch

The finches(vink) are at their best...this season.
The colors of their feathers much more beautiful than in other seasons of the year.

Their deep red-brownish breast..showing great in the sunshine.(male)
As if they have dressed up for the 'girls' in their most beautiful suit.
meanwhile singing to attract the most lovely one.

Continuing story Flying Red.

One moment later Roodi's mother embraced him with everything in her, under her wings.
Holding him dear to her heart.
She was so happy to have her Roodi back!
She had been so afraid...where he was...not coming back...fearing...the worst.

Roodi was so happy, he was back home in her warm embrace...
When she held him for a long time in her arms,
Roodi told her all that had happened...
about the nasty scolding spider,
how he had snapped the spider...
how he had learned to fly...

Doddi was so proud on her flying Red.

Spring

You don't have to tell the birds or cats or any animal,
that spring has officialy has arrived today on March 21.

The best and most loveliest season of the year.

Though winter thinks he still reigns...

The coal-tits know spring has arrived.
Without clock or calender...they know exactly!

The birds definitely give proof that spring has arrived....

Officialy spring has arrived,
but during nighttime...
winter likes to show off his last presence.
frost everywhere...the birdbath completely frozen.

Moon XXL

Last night I heard on the news, that there was something special with the moon.
Not only he was full these days,
but he looks 14% bigger than normal.
He seems bigger because he is lower at the horizon.
Also he is closest near the earth now: 356.577 kilometer.

So that was interesting enough for me to make a shot last night, of this XXL moon.

The 2 shadows on the moon comes from a tree..sitting in front of the moon

Siskin

Interesting this unknown bird today.
At first I did not know this visitor, feeding on the peanuts.
A bird with a lovely striped belly, about the size of a sparrow?

As I looked in my books, I think its a female Siskin, (Carduelis Spinus), Sijs.
Not so common in my garden.

Instantly Roodi's mother saw that the red blurr coming at her was her Roodi !

Surprised, full of relief, she opened her wings wide open,
so that Roodi flew right into her loving arms....!

Roodi flew as fast as he could fly,
within seconds he was near his home.
where he saw his mother on the look-out.

She was waiting & staring in the blue...
suddenly seeing a red blurr coming near

Roodi noticed that his wings...could lift him in the air..
Would it be possible he could fly like he had seen his mother doing?

He tried to not only go up and down...
but also to go straight on, flapping his wings as fast as he could flap!

wet feet and a drink

Bibi always has been a kind of weird cat...
he does unlike cat-things..like drinking out of the birdbath.
The birdbath is at least 70 /80 cm high, placed on a pillar..
so that the birds can have a drink or bath, more safe.

But Bibi thinks its his drinkingspot
he does not care about getting wet feet...
though he tries to avoid this as much a possible.

songtrush

Itsagain lovely spring weather today,
Birds are singing...all day.

Time for a bath..thought the songtrush (zanglijster).
He splashed all over...like an acrobat...many times.

ladybird

Spingtime again, lovely sun...warming the day.
This ladybird took a walk on one of my plants.
meanwhile sitting, resting for a while, taking a sunbath.

Roodi could not believe his eyes.

To make sure,
he jumped up and down,
meanwhile flapping his wings, more than ten times...

Brambling

He looks like a finch..and at first I saw nothing special
but this one...isn't just a finch..though his family is,
he is a Brambling, (Keep) (Fringilla montifringilla).
I rarely see him on the feedingtable,
as I searched for more info, he is a visitor, staying over here in wintertime, sometimes stays..

I could approach him very close, without flying away,
posing from all sides.
Lovely bird, orange breast, head greyish-brown...so that means, 'he'... is a she.
the male has more black on his head.

So cute with one loose feather

Hey what's that?
Roodi looked astonished at his wings...
which had grown a little more...

It was as if his wings had lifted him up...,
as he was jumping with surprise and relief.
He kept looking, wondering, at his new wings and
he flapped them some more times up and down.

Seeing the the spider had tumbled & fallen.
Roodi jumped with surprise and relief in the air.

I did it! he cried out...

Roodi walked boldly towards the place the spider sat.
In a moment he saw the spider sitting,
still dangling on his thin line.

Roodi took a deep breath...and stepped forward more closer...
Inwardly saying...All or Nothing.

When the spider saw Roodi coming...
the spider said:..Hey look who's there...!
The firy red mo n...ss ..
but before he could finish his scolding
Roodi snapped the thin line apart
and said: seeing the spider shrinking...in total panic.
It is you who is the nasty black monster!

Its still freezing at nighttime,
but at daytime...its realy spring...!
lovely sunshine, birds chirping, tweeting, singing.
flowers everywhere.
I love it!

Continuing story Flying Red.

Finally a watery sun came through and melted all the snow again.
Roodi warmed himself for a while in the warm sunrays,
thinking meanwhile what's up next....
Climbing the tree or going down, or...going back...
Both were all scary.

He decided to make a U-turn, to go back to his mother
and going back to face the spider again,
who was a black monster himself, he said under his breath, to get more courage.

Suddenly Roodi got a bright idea....What ifff....

Its full spring today...sun shining.
The crocus all opening up..showing their bright vivid colors.
I even saw a bumble, the first one this year,...flying around,
making a landing on a fragile crocus...bending all over.
Before I could get my camera, the bumble had disappeared.
