looks

You can tell by his looks...that it is all so unfamiliar,
trying to explore his new world outside the box.

clumsy

The young blackbirds are still roaming around in my garden.
Sometimes the father feeds them, though they are grown up enough to feed themselves.
Their looks is still kind of clumsy, and so is their behaviour.

grass

Grass has many ways of flowering.
Mostly you don't see the flowering grass... though when you look more closely
there are so many variaties in grasses.

I love them, as they are always moving back and forth by the slightest touch of wind.
The fragile thin tiny golden ears...always dancing...playing.

screaming & begging

This morning I heard a young blackbird begging and screaming...for food.
A moment later I saw him sitting in the grass nearby.

I saw the father blackbird on the feedingtable
where I had put some breadcrumbs.
Than the next scenery speaks for itself..

White admiral

This morning I saw a butterfly flying around, black wings, white dots.
I have never seen him before, as far as I can remember.
Yes on photos ...not in my garden.

So I tried to chase him quickly...only got a small glimpse...enough for determination.
His english name is White Admiral.
In dutch its named Kleine IJsvogelvlinder or in latin (Limenitis camilla)

The butterfly is on the red list because they are very rare here.

first sunrays

This morning when I looked out of the window,
I saw Tommy at the back of the garden, sitting in the first sunrays of the day

He sat there so enjoying and relaxed as cats can be.
I took the photo through the glass window,
knowing that if I touched the door, I would destroy this delightful moment.

egg

While going out with one of my friends M.
I found on a small road, along the river an egg.
I guess it was stolen from a nest and picked open by a predator
otherwise it would not lay broken on a road.

I took it home to find out what bird it belonged to.
I found it belonged to a common coot (meerkoet).

oops!

Almost finished,
wanting to pick up my camera ...it rolled on the concrete floor.
Luckily it was only the UV filter that has been smashed into thousands of pieces...

little bells

Little tiny bells dangling on one of my plants in the garden,
between soft feathery leaves.
I think it's a kind of Asparagus plant.
I like the fragile texture
If it is softly moved by the wind you almost can hear the bells tingling.

red carpet

It has been raining almost all day.
Many of the fragile poppy's have layed out,
making a beautiful red carpet for the One coming along.

splashing poppy

I did not see him for a while.
Having his nest somewhere at the neighbours...
he was busy all the time I guess.

Yesterday late afternoon I saw him having a bath.
at first at the back of the garden...
luckily he came also to the birdbath a little closer.
splashing, going under.
The poppy's at the back almost hiding him.

2 square yellow

My neighbours gardener has mown their grass with a smile.

As there were growing many many lovely yellow flowers in the grass...
He mowed around the yellow flowers,
keeping 2 square meter flowering yellows.

leaving my neighbours puzzled with a smile.

on the wings

This morning I heard the screaming of the young flycatchers, not only from the birdhouse.
I heard them around in the trees.

Some of the young had gone out.
luckily not all.
So I posted my self close to the birdhouse with my camera...
There still was a young inside..and got a glimpse of him,
while he crawled before the hole.
Its such a beautiful sight seeing them watching the unknown world
outside of the box for the first time.

Moments later he was gone too.
out in a new world.
Byebye flycatchers!
It was such a delight having them in my garden.
