Another blackbird is waiting for his turn on the feedingtable

One of the blackbirds jumped up and down...to get some seeds from the fat ball.
Finally he managed to pull the thing down...so he can have it all.

Birds are so creative and clever.

That is has been and still is a hard time for the birds,
to survive the cold shows this finch.
His feathers are almost blowing appart..into fluff.

The 2 birds in my garden wear beautiful snowcaps to keep warm.

As I was seeking in my garden an object for my camera..
I saw these starlike seeds covered in snowice and light shining through...
twinkling...

They reminded me of the star, the shepherds saw when Jesus was born.

robin again

It has been snowing a lot.
Here is robin again, here he is like a round fluffy ball, with all his feathers out
He can't get enough of posing for my camera,
with his firy breast so beautiful glowing in the whites.
not to mention his bright shiny eyes...

He wishes you all a merry delightful X-mas.
Oh and of course me too!

Narnia land

Last night again a fresh layer of snow...falling down.
Tonight some more is expected.
Its extremely beautiful.
Thick white ice cakes and arches have changed my garden into Narnialand.

It is still freezing and cold.
The birds keep on coming to the feedingtable,
which is empty in no minute.

Ha ha ha, the peanuts are above him...so that's why he has this gorgeous look!

Dunnock

Regulary I see the Dunnock (Prunella modularis) Heggemus, roaming around.
mostly on the ground.
A very quick, lovely bird, very good camouflaged almost unvisible in its natural surroundings.
Now in the snow, its a different story,
coming out of hiding, he is quite visible.
He even sat on the feedingtable for some seeds.

this night again a new thick coat of snow...
birds busy... digging in the snow, picking hidden seeds.

I picked up my pencil.

The male finches have in this time of the year such a beautiful bronze colored breast.
it stands out in the white snow even much more.

When I awoke and looked outside..the whole world was covered in pure white.
Again a kind of Narnia land.
It kept on snowing almost all day.

It snowed all day...
the branches hanging heavy with the pure white snow.

Today, more fresh snow and rain...
Robin has also enlarged his coat & firy heart, by putting up his feathers.
Lovely round fluffy ball, with his firy heart even more glowing in the snow

As it is rather cold...the blue-tit has put up his feathers, as a warm coat.
He is like a perfect round-fluffy-soft-colored-living ball.

snowing again

Last night it started snowing again.
I was happy all drabby melting clutter had gone.
Now again..awesome, beautiful, fresh snow falling.
Immediately this stillness, this pure atmosphere...I love it.

Next morning..birds are digging in the snow...in order to find some seeds.
or waiting for their turn.

Of course not.

cold feet 2

I wonder if birds have very cold feet in wintertime.
They have to stand or sit on frozen ground or frozen branches, (when they are not in flight)
day and night.
They spend many hours sitting or standing on cold icy frozen below zero.
Do they have snow/ ice-proof feet?

Embrace

While I was looking for a new photo object,
my eye caught this lovely (warm) embrace.

Overnight all kind of frosted fragile sugary coating on seeds and a spiderweb.
