Melting snowflakes ...

into drops....

on every tiny bud or seed a snowflake...
Thats one of the most beautiful things of fresh fallen snow.

I love it seeing the blackbirds digging in the snow...
searching for frozen seeds,

When I pulled open the curtains this morning...
surprise...surprise!

It has been snowing again.
It all looks like magic Narnialand....
The blackbirds wait in line for the feeding table...
but not always on a British way.

I love the blackbird with a little white under his chin,
and the speckled dots on his breast.

While it is freezing and very cold,
sunshine broke through today.
Blackbird is sunbathing, warming himself in the first sunrays.

robin bath

A few days its around zero...so the thaw set in.
for me an opportunity to let the half frozen birdbath running again.

After some hours...to my surprise robin thought it was great to have a fresh bath!

I am always so delighted when I see him having his bath.

big spider

When I stepped in the kitchen this morning
for making my cup of coffee.
I saw a very, very huge big spider sitting on the floor!

It did not move...
It did not run away...these type of spiders can run ...very, very fast.
So I moved & stepped with my left foot carefully on top.
(this is the stepped-on version)

I don't like spiders inside my house.
shiver...yuck...

Tree creeper

This lovely little tree creeper (boomkruipertje)
came along for a drink at the snow-ice-capped well
which has still running water.

There have been flying feathers...with no bird attached.

Some blackbirds think they have more rights on the feeding table than others.
That causes more than once a bird-to-bird fight,
to decide who is first...and who will be last.
Who is very important...and who is very unimportant.

Not only people...play this game.

Its still snowy and very cold outside.
This blackbird on my frozen birdbath,
has made himself allmost a round featherball to keep warm.

Blackbirds gathering

There are at least more than 10 blackbirds gathering around the feeding table.
As it started snowing and freezing again, the birds come for their survival kid.

A few days ago they have discovered the malus apples..which I had put outside at X-mas time.
These were totally frozen on the dish...and not so easy to take away.

Lots of hammering on these ice apples...
And of course waiting for and fighting each others turns, according to who is Top Bird.

I love watching their behaviour..and expressions.
