rose-hips

This morning , while looking outside of my window, I saw a branch moving and shaking, while there was no wind elsewhere. So I looked a little closer, first didn't see any reason why the branch was so disturbed.
Inspecting closer, I saw a blackbird pulling and tugging, trying to get one of these, which made the branches shake so severely.
The rose-hips of the may-tree...sitting to tight on the branches but...ready for a meal.

The lower photo reminds me so strongly of a camp-fire potato bake...It sets my imagination dancing...and my juices flowing...look again...it looks like a twig impaled potato, roasted to perfection)....
Maybe that's why the blackbird was tugging so determinedly?
