Sparrows

The sparrows are coming back every day.
So delighted with them when they are around.
They are feasting on the grass-seeds in one of my pots.

Sheep

On of my biking tours I discovered a beautiful restful place
with small pools and wild flowers.
A flock of sheep was enjoying there a good meal.

Duck?

Looking at his beak, it looks like a duck.
but....I don't know.
Its not a kind of duck I've seen before.

Sparrows

The Sparrows are now coming everyday.
I hear them tweeting and discussing the daily news in the hedge.
or having a refreshing bath in my birdbath.
A while later I see them flying away again to another spot.
As if they have decided together to fly off all at the same time.

So lovely to hear their ruffling wings.
Thats why I love sparrows so much

Hedgehog

For years I have not seen them in my garden.
I don't know why.
I heard there had been sickness under the hedgehogs.
But now tonight I saw one!
He was very slow and I think because of the enormous heat of today made him exhausted.
He did not run away when I came close.
I wondered if he was sick.
I ran inside to give him some cat food, which he immediately started to eat.
He still did not run away. I brought him some more.
A bit frightened he sighed way but came back later.
Unfortunately it was already getting dark and my cam settings were not on the right Iso.
Thats why only a shimmering photo, but thats better han nothing.

Falcon

Enjoying the late sunset on my bike,
I saw this beauty sitting with his prey on a pole in the last sunrays.
Cannot clearly see what he has caught. a mole? Its rather big
I cropped the image severely but still cannot see what he had for dinner.

When I looked up, I saw this beautiful angelwing!

Starlings

In the same meadow, where the stork sat, there were a group of starlings.
They were also feasting on things crawling in the grass.
and so now and then they flew into a nearby tree.
I love watching these birds in their acrobatic flights.
same like sparrows do and carrier pigeons.

He stood there like that for a long time.
Later a heron joined him, probably there were some snacks running around.

While bathing he became quite ruffled and untidy.

Little Wren

It was already getting darker a bit, when I noticed little Wren on the terrace.

He was picking something and than smashing it.

I needed to know more.

Through my camera lens I saw he had a big something!

A big caterpillar.

For such a small bird quite a big snack!

He smashed the thing like kingfishers do with their fishes.

I never had seen this.

When it was enough smashed he had a big full tummy!

Wagtail

I rarely see them here in my garden.
But this one came and even started preening his long tail.

Sparrows

The set of sparrows are coming almost everyday now.
Reason is, I guess that my neighbours have bought some chickens,
and the sparrows love to pick their share in the chicken-house.
And that makes that they come to my garden for a bath and if there is food to eat here as well.
I love the sparrows.
They are so funny.
