Redwings

This morning, quite early, again an invasion of birds coming to feast in the apple tree.
At first I thought, Hey the Fieldfares are back again!
So I grabbed my camera to capture the birds.
To my amazement it were no Farefields
I saw above the eye a white stripe and a red coloured wing area.
It must be a couple of Redwings,Turdus iliacus, Koperwieken.
And yep...
a group of Redwings...!
These birds also come from the North, like Sweden, Finland and Norway,
and also come here in Holland to escape the freezing cold.

Fieldfare

A few days ago, suddenly a group of at least 6 or 7 Fieldfares,Turdus pilaris,Kramsvogels
landed in the small apple tree to feast on the little apples.
For such a small tree it was packed.
I was not able to catch all of them in the tree.
However one wanted to pose and I was happy.

This bird is not a common bird in Holland.
Only during wintertimes he comes here flying from the northern countries like Norway, Sweden, Finland or even Siberia.

Apple feast

The apples are frozen and now a delight for the blackbirds.
They are feasting, having an apple party!

Snowdrops coming out

Despite the snow,
These brave hearts have come out, to announce new Life.
Spring is coming out!

Sparkles

This morning beautiful layer of snow everywhere.
I love the fresh fallen snow, changing the world into mesmerizing tranquility and peace.
Later the sun broke out, playing with the melting snow drops into lightning sparkles.

Robin snow

Tonight it started snowing again.
However not so much as last week.
These a some pics of last week, robin in the snow.

Birdhouse inspection

It was amazing to me that the blue-tits were defending the birdhouse
when other birds came too close.

Even it had been snowing it seemed not to matter to them.
It looks like, they have already claimed the birdhouse for the coming spring.
The great-tit also was looking for the house, to see if it was available,
when the blue-tits were busy some place else.

Eye

This morning when I looked outside,
I noticed an eye looking at me from the pond
It was a funny sensation this eye peeking out...
wondering what kind of animal was under the water, that belonged to the eye.
The eye even moved a bit around in the pond.

Robin in snow

 Robin is waiting for his turn on the feedingtable.

Snowing

Yesterday it began to snow.
Robin discovered the Extra large seed ball.
On this one he can sit, which makes it for him a lot easier to eat.
