Robin almost a round fluff ball

Siskin

A not so common winter-visitor , visiting...

Travelling all the way from:  northeast and middle of Europe , Scotland.

Carduelis Spinus, Sijs, (Eurasian siskin),

A lovely small bird.

Here a female Siskin.

Drinking deep

This morning the water in the birdbath was frozen,
so I poured out some fresh water in the birdbath for the birds to drink.
Not long after that, a bleu-tit had discovered the fresh water.

Later on the photo I noticed how deep he was drinking....

It has been cold and freezing last days.
Though spring arrived a few days ago, it is not very much looking like that.
All the water is frozen, only melting a little bit by the fragile sun coming through.
This melted water is very welcome for the birds.

Robin came along to have a fresh drink.
such a beauty...he is!

Spring birthday

I thought spring had his birthday today...
the 21th of March.
On the news they said spring 's birthday was yesterday... 20th of March.
anyway...
Happy birthday spring!


As I googled a little; it all depends on spring equinox.

(The word equinox is derived from the Latin words meaning “equal night.” Days and nights are approximately equal everywhere and the Sun rises and sets due east and west.)

Songbird

A glimpse of the songbird with the most delightful songs of all.
Early in the morning or at the end of the day.

I love listening to his songs...
which gives me a jump-feeling right into the middle of spring.

2 robins

I was wondering...
am I seeing right?

But now I saw them together.
There are 2 robins in my garden.
They have found each other!

But it is hard to tell who is who and which is which.

they are lookalikes.

Spring-delay

Again snow....
BBBrRR, shiver, cold.

For the first time this year, I noticed robin in the peanut butter jar.

On the top photo he looks exactly like the birds above him..
just a round ball.

blackbird springsong

This morning when I awoke, I heard the most beautiful sparkling music near my window.

It was as if I was in another world...
The Blackbird who was singing, or maybe it was a SongThrush,
was singing with such a sparking clear brilliant sound...
breathtaking...
It was as if he sang his song just for me.
I was thinking, I wished I could record the song...
But my memory recorded the sounds....and the atmosphere...of beginning spring.

Maybe you also have near your window a blackbird singing his song just for you!

First butterfly and ladybird

Today its like spring, as you dreamed off.
Lovely warm sunshine, birds tweeting everywhere...
doing some gardening.
and...while doing so I saw the first butterflies flying around!...
I was not able to capture them very well. when I tried, they took their wings.

but the first ladybird was having a sunbath,
trying to capture all the sun rays as much as possible.

As if looking up to The One.
he reminds me to do so.

Yesterday I glued some peanut butter on the a trunk of the beech.
I wanted to attract the woodpecker, who did not come yet.

Robin was the first who discovered the treat.
