cold and rainy

Now it is becoming colder and really autumn like.
More birds are visiting the feeding table.
Robin came today several times, and of course he is one of my favorites.

new feeding house

A year ago I bought a new feeding home for the birds.
I did not use it then anymore because winter had gone at that time.

Now winter is coming again, I placed it on the feeding table.

A blackbird thought it was a nice place to sit and stay....
For almost an hour the blackbird sat in the house.
It was as if he said he wanted to stay there.

Fluffy-whisker

Few days ago I found a Fluffywhisker on the floor
He did not seem to miss it, so I stored it at the lost and found.
The whisker is at least 10 cm long...a beautiful thick white whisker.

Whiskers are as long as cats are thick.
So Fluffy knows exactly if he can pass though a hole without getting stuck.

Hedge Sparrow

Under the feeding table, almost invisible is the Hedge Sparrow(Prunella modularis), Heggemus, looking for crumbs that have fallen under the table between the leaves.

Hide and seek

Sitting behind my computer I have a great view on my garden.
Suddenly I noticed Bibi sitting at the back of the garden, hidden behind the grasses.

Coming closer, I see he is enjoying autumn.

peanuts and pens

The coal tits and the blue tits are greatly enjoying the peanut butter jar.
Several times I refilled the jar.

This time I had to renew the stick on which they can perch as well.
By lack of a little branch I used a pen instead.
So here they sit on my pen...which makes it a bit funny.

ladybird

Maybe it was because of the nice weather...today
and that I was doing some gardening.
Before winter comes some things need some arrangements
in order to be ready before it is pouring down or having snow showers.

Lots of ladybirds were out....going here going there.
Only when I wanted to make a photo...they all suddenly took their wings,
before I had even time to set my camera.
Just when I wanted to go inside...having shot nothing,
there was a ladybird on the door...
He wanted to pose a moment for the www.

Inspection

The blackbird is having inspection.
Are they yummy?

On his flight, a coal tit caught a winged thing...
kind of night moth, or something like that.

Robin

It has been a while, since I saw robin.
It think he is coming to stay here for the winter, surviving the coming cold from North Europe.
I am so glad to see him again....as if a good old friend is visiting.
I do hope he will stay.

In the water all kinds of autumn 'boats' are floating...
so now and then rain showers are trying to push them under.

Autumn sun

In the lovely autumn sun, butterflies are feasting on the Verbena's

pigeons

The pigeons are doing their daily flight.
Going in circles and eights.

It seems to me they enjoy it with great delight....
every day the same circles and eights...on and on and on.

It looks as if Bibi says: relax....enjoy the sunshine....

I had seen the squirrel passing by in my garden.
That did not happen for some years.
The neighbors have a wall nut tree, but since some trees have disappeared some years ago
the squirrels take another path...not through my garden.

So this was great!, having one running along.
immediately I dropped some wallnuts outside...as a surprise, to have them stuck on their way.
And it worked....
When the squirrel ran along he noticed the nuts...and of course he could not resist.

Only....It was still dark this morning...so the photo's are blurred..=--------

peanut

Last week I put up a peanut butter jar in the tree.
The birds love it and me too watching them.
One by one they come along, waiting their turn, the blue tits and the coal tits, for a snack.

Butterflies

Yesterday, while there was a lovely warm autumn sun shining.
Lots of butterflies enjoyed their meal in the Purple Top vervain, (Ijzerhard), (Verbena).

Today no butterfly anywhere to be seen...because of the cloudy rainy no sunshine day.

Not only the berry's on yesterdays tree are growing, coloring....
The little malus apples have become firy red!
