growing feathers

The blackbird who was moulting severely
and looked rather undone by his appearance,
is growing feathers again.
He still looks a bit...as if you want to look twice...but not being too rude.

Sometimes in our life.... just like the moulting birds, or the autumn trees,
we are losing our feathers, our leaves... our appearance... being not so dignified...
or even naked.

Birds don't mind...we do...

for God ...........He already knew.
He knows exactly what we look like... our outward and inward appearance..,
every hair is counted...He knows our heart

He sees, knows when we loose some feathers,
Always seeing us through the eye full of Love...acceptance and grace!

then its not so bad...dropping some feathers...being undignified.
He is a safe place to Be

great-tit drinking

The Great-tit came along for a drink (koolmees), (parus major)

Dunnock

One of the first birds that came along for a drink or bath,
(while I was watching in my bird-shelter-tent)
was a beautiful Dunnock (Heggemus)( Prunella modularis)

I noticed the birds are a bit uneasy or fearful for the tent,
at least they have to get used to this sudden "bush-shrub-thing"in my garden.

bird tent

A year ago I bought a bird-tent, for making closer photos of the birds.
I didn't use it much yet.

Today I decided to put it up...
nice weather....beautiful day....sun shining,

waiting... some more waiting....
no birds coming
Tommy .... of course...came!
& kept company

robin singing

I almost hear him all day.
gently, softly singing...twieiet sjievieet sjieieevieet!

or....".tic-tic-tick-tick-tickeretic-tickretic".
when Tommy or Bibi hang around.

To lighten up my terrace,
I found these beautiful bunny-tails.
as if tens of bunny's are jumping around!

blackbird moults

Blackbird is moulting...shedding his feathers.
his head really looks a bit very awkward.
that you would hide...looking so out of tune.

birds don't mind...no latest fashions...
being accepted by appearances...

not so
at all!
just being complete out of tune...is very OK!

toadstool

As the toadstool grew...it split!

It looked as if a piece was missing...
as if someone had cut out a piece from the pie.
Of course Tommy wanted to see too.

red in the green

Today, ....I saw shimmering red in the greens.
at closer inspection...it was a beautiful toadstool....shining all by himself.
Fly agaric back in my garden...under the trees
like a unexpected surprise.

On one side (see top photo) there is a small nibble...only one bite.
questions arise, I wonder...
did it taste good? was it yucky?
who did the bite?
was it the squirrel?
a snail? a slug?
or was it a mouse?
a bird?.....

robin softly whispering

I heard softly whispers in the bush,
I saw robin after a while, hidden in the leaves,
his color not yet camouflaged....easy to be seen,
which will be different in a month or so when the leaves are getting reds, browns or yellows.

He was softly whispering as if he was talking to himself.
or was he softly saying a prayer?

squirrel-time

I heard kgneach-kgnaech, kgnaechh...
then pause...
again ghneachh-ghniachhh- ghneachhh...
kind of sawing, gnawing, scraping kind of sound.

Since I live here, I know exactly what that sound means...

That means: nuts are ripe!
A squirrel is sawing, scraping with his teeth on the walnut to break it open
its a queer sound, but once you heard that sound, you'll never forget.
scrape gncheachh...sharp teeth sawing gnawing.
"walnut time"...squirrels around...!
"collecting-nuts-time"& "berrying-nuts-time"

Every time I hear that sound...I look around, scanning trees, branches...
and shortly after I find red.

young nuthatch

A young nuthatch (boomklever) discovered the birdbath.

He looked so perfectly dressed in his beautiful feather-suit.
no worn out feathers...all so brandnew....
as if he had just bought a new outfit.

Its a not so common bird in my bath...so I hope to see him more often.
