Suddenly after the heat-wave it is extreme raining for maybe 10 minutes...

Raindrops jumping up and down in the birdbath like a dance.!

Yesterday I saw a remarkable beautiful butterfly flying around.
One I do not see very often, not in my garden.
I looked it up, tried to capture its picture, but anyhow this is the only picture I could get.

its the Swallow-tail: Papilio machaon, or Koninginnepage
Beautiful big butterfly and he seems to like my 'foeniculum' plant in my garden too,
as where he tried to feed on.

Its too warm for anything else...

the blackbird goes on splashing in the birdbath, for another go!

looking good?

What I realy like about the bathing birds,
is that they don't care about looking good.

They are not dependant on others opinions....
of what they look like or behave in accepted manners or whatsoever.

They do care about being clean
and feathers being oiled very well.
spending a lot of time doing that...preening and oiling,
In order to endure in all wheather circumstances,
and have the best flying tools.

A bit scrubbing and rubbing, scratching.....
to get all dust out.

A young blackbird is begging and chasing his mother, for worms.
He looks big enough to find one for himself,
yet his mother is chasing worms ...

Bibi is chasing the little blackbird..
I am chasing both of them.

The golden crested wren made a kind of dance,
all wet and soaked

Seeds are getting ripe.

storehouses are so beautiful made.
exactly fitting for each seed.
Lots of them sitting , waiting there inside for falling into the ground.
To find their destiny.

Bibi, always on the lookout.

This morning, while looking a little sleepy still, out of my window...
Immediately I was wide awake.
A green woodpecker in my garden!

chasing and hunting ants!
I love this bird..so spectacular amazing colors...

Silver Y

A silver Y moth, sitting on my window...
Silver eyes....!

or his official name: Autographa gamma.. . The Y looks like the greek letter gamma.

They even could fly while being locked...!
