Flying deer

Changing wings...

Yesterday I received a letter from Israel...looking at the airmail sticker glued at the bottom,
I wondered:
'Hey did they change the flying deer?'

Today I looked it up...
Having collected in the past all kind of airmail stickers, I could check.
You can see for yourself here.

The deer has changed its wings!
Does it fly swifter?

ladybird

The ladybirds are awakened again.
After a long winter hibernation, I saw them flying around,
and this one going for a walk.

My songbird

I heard him...did n't see him.
But after a closer inspection he sat there, on & in the lamp...gently singing his springsong.

I was happy he let me come closer.
Every time after some shots I tried to come closer another step.
He is such a beauty!

butterfly goneout

The last couple of days the butterfly sat quietly... very quiet in the window of my kitchen.

He did not eat...whatever I tried to put in front of his face...
he did n't.
Maybe that's normal I don't know.
I could easily put him on my finger or transfer him to another place.
He was not afraid at all.
Every day I opened the window for a while...so that he could fly away if he wanted.
Until today... sunny shiny day,
Lots of spring in the air.
I opened the window again.

Suddenly he was gone...having taken his wings!

second small white

in front of open window

feeding the butterly from a silver spoon...

I opened the window after I tried to feed him unsuccesfully.
So he can decide for himself if he wants to go out or stay for a while.

UNUSUAL & UNLIKELY

It is most UNUSUAL and UNLIKELY that the unusual and unlikely things
stepped out of the borders of OWL-story into my normal life.

This morning while I was washing dishes,
I saw to my astonishment another butterfly sitting in the window !

I am definitely sure that I did not loose two caterpillars last year, while I was watching the cocooning-process of the caterpillars....only one.
Here there sat another butterfly...also a Small White (klein koolwitje)
Probably it is a male...though he has a very tiny small little second spot

A male has only one dot on each wing,
The butterfly of last week...(see post 04-03-10) was a female .
A female butterfly has 2 dots on each wing.

I am so very surprised....!
I have no idea how this butterfly or as caterpillar came in my kitchen.

snow again

When I looked this morning out of the window...
It was all white.
For the first time, I don't like it that it has been snowing again.

What about the butterfly...now freezing?
would he be able te survive?
Then all the springflowers...having bravely come out of hiding.
Now covered with a white blanket.

Though there is lots of beauty in that..
Today I don't agree.
